Paolo Croce was born in Napoli, Italy, in 1954. He graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Napoli Federico II in 1979 and obtained the Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado in 1982. He is Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, Italy, where is currently teaching courses on soil mechanics and slope stability. He is a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and of the Italian Geotechnical Society (Associazione Geotecnica Italiana – AGI). Has been Convenor of the European Work Group on Ground Improvement (EG14 – CEN/TC/250) and member of the European Committee on Execution of Special Geotechnical Works (CEN/TC 288). Has authored several papers in geotechnical journals and conferences, including a book on Jet Grouting together with Alessandro Flora and Giuseppe Modoni, published by Taylor and Francis in 2014. He has 30 years of professional experience in Europe and Middle East regarding design and consulting for earth and rockfill dams, viaduct foundations, tunnelling, landslides control, soil Improvement and recycling.
Giuseppe Modoni was born in Foggia, Italy, in 1968. He graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Napoli, Federico II, in 1994. He completed a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the Consortium of the Universities of Rome and Napoli in 1999. He has been awarded with fellowships from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (2004) and the Silesian University of Technology in Poland (2006-2008). At present he is Associate Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio (Italy), where he is currently teaching courses on soil mechanics and foundations and ground improvement. He is a Member of the Italian Geotechnical Society (Associazione Geotecnica Italiana – AGI), and has participated to the AGI Committee for preparing the Recommendation on Jet Grouting. His research activity spans from laboratory investigation and theoretical modelling of the stress strain response of coarse grained materials, design of jet grouting, interpretation and modelling of large scale geotechnical problems. He has authored several papers in geotechnical journals and conferences and is reviewer for prestigious international journals. He has published two books on Jet Grouting, one in Italian published by Hevelius (2005), the other in English published by Taylor and Francis (2014). He has about 20 years of geotechnical consultant experience in Italy and Europe.
Erminio Salvatore was born in Cassino, Italy in 1984. He gratuated with honor in Civil Engineering at University of Cassino and Southern Lazio and acheived a second level master degree in Geomechanics, Civil Engineering and Risk at University Joseph Fourier of Grenoble. He receaved a PhD in Civil, Mechanics and Biomechanics Engineering at University of Cassino in 2016. His research activity ranges from laboratory investigation to numerical modelling of complex geotechnical systems (deep foundations, liquefaction analysis, etc..).
Rose Line Spacagna was born in Bron (France). She gratuaded with onor in Civil Engineering at University of Cassino in 2009. She receaved her PhD in Civil and Mechanical Engineering in 2014. She is currently post doc researcher at University of Cassino and Southern Lazio and she is envolved in different projects regarding risks analysis at the territorial scale making use of Geographical Information Systems.
Ph.D. Luca Paolella
Geotechnical risk analyses
Luca Paolella was born in Cassino, Italy in 1992. In 2016, he achieved with honor the Master degree in Geotechnical Engineering at University of Cassino and Southern Lazio. In 2021 he received his Ph.D. in Method, Model and Technology for Engineering at the University of Cassino. The thesis entitled “Multilevel Probabilistic Risk Assesment of Seismic Liquefaction on Urban Systems” was developed as part of the H2020 Liquefact.eu Project. His research interests are about earthquake geotechnical engineering, and liquefaction risk assessment on urban systems.
PhD in Geotechnical Engineering (Silesian Universities of Technology and University of Cassino) – post doc at Charles University of Prague (Czech Republic) – award by the Polish Geotechnical Society and by ISSMGE (2015) – Assistant Professor of Geotechnics at the Silesian University of Technology (Poland) – teaching Master and Undergraduate courses on soil mechanics, geotechnical design. Member of the Polish Geotechnical Society (AGI). His expertise embraces advanced numerical modelling of tunnels, offshore foundations and other geotechnical systems, artificial neural networks for geotechnical application. He has more than 10 years’ experience of geotechnical consultancy, in Poland and Italy.
Ph.D. Maciej Ochmański
Assunta Pelliccio was born in Casoria (Naples). She graduated with honors in Architecture at the University of Naples Federico II. She received her PhD in Civil and Mechanical Engineering 2004. She is Assistant Professor of Technical Representation at the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio, where she is currently teaching course on Technical Representation and Design for undergraduate master students.
At present, she is a Member of the Italian Drawing Association (Unione Italiana del Disegno – UID). Author of several publications in national and international scientific journals, monography, chapter books. Her specific expertise ranges in fields of survey and representation (GIS/BIM) of Landscape and Cultural Heritage.
Matteo Albano was born in Formia, Italy, in 1983. He received the PhD degree in Civil and Mechanical Engineering in 2013 from the University of Cassino and Southern Lazio and the M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the same University in March 2009. He is a former co-founder of the SpinOff AGS s.r.l. His main activities concern the application of static and dynamic analytical and numerical models for the analysis and interpretation of ground displacements involving dams, tunnels, landslides, and earthquakes. He has authored several papers in international journals and conferences.
